How to Paint a Cabinet

So our kitchen was really dark.   It needed to be refreshed, so I painted the cabinets.  The hardest part is getting the doors on and off of the cabinets.

We went to Lowes to buy things to sand and degloss our cabinets.  Instead the guy at Lowes saud that this primer sticks to glossy surfaces.  Primer and no sanding.... done.

I used a semi gloss paint from Lowes.  Du Jour...not white. :)

Also, per all of my research, use foam rollers for the paint.  It will go on much smoother than a regular roller.

So we took the doors off the cabinets and put them on the floor.  And then primed and painted.

Instead of buying (and trying to find) hinges for the cabinet doors, I spray painted them.  It worked so well.  It is a little different than our handles. But unless you are being judgmental, you will never notice.

And here is the kitchen put back together with new door handles.

***You might also be able to see that I painted the bay window in the background.  It brings in so much more light!
