Living Room (one day the dining room)

This is the ONLY room in the house that does not have wallpaper or paneling.  Not kidding...  So this is officially the easiest room to finish in the entire house. :)

We took down the shelves in the back of the room.  It makes it look much bigger to us.
We didn't do a huge change in the room.  Just changed the color to a nice Sage green.

And when I was painting around the outlet cover, guess what I found?
If you guessed dead bees, you're right!
I guess they are from when we had a massive hive in the attic.

The room is now complete!!!

I think it looks really good with the new dining room color as well!  Two rooms in one week!

Dining Room...Soon to be the Parlor

This was the dining room when we first looked at the house.  This is not our furniture.

After dewallpapering the kitchen (in April) we through we would move to the dining room.  We were not wallpaper pros yet.  So the lovely work you see here took hours.
But with time we learned.  I found that you can tear the paper off the wall and it is much easier to wet the backing the scrap it off.  And then... you can get to the 70's wallpaper that was underneath. Luckily this room had been primed before they put up wallpaper.

It took most of two weeks to get down.  A little patching, a little priming and we have a new dining room!

Note:  If you didn't notice, the chair rail and trim magically changed from a deep brown to white.  In the coming months this will happen to all of the doors and trim in the whole house.  It makes the house look so much cleaner.

Master Bedroom

Besides the kitchen this is one of the most dramatic changes in the house.  When we were looking at the house it had wallpaper, comforters, trash cans, and curtains that matched each other.  I may be missing some thing from the list, but it was bad.

Then (like the rest of the house) we had to take down wallpaper.  Luckily, it was only halfway down the wall.  The border though was put on with super glue. The paint below reminded us of a Green Bay Packers fan room.

But before we could get all of the wallpaper off, we found bees.  We started with one and then by the end of the week there were 9 dead on the carpet.  I went outside and saw that we had a swarm!!  We called an exterminator.  They said we have a massive hive of them in the attic (they were pulling insulation out of the house into the yard).

One coat of prime and we can still see the horrible paint.

And the mostly finished product.  We love our new room!

It's official!!!

We have no wallpaper on the first floor on our house!  I cannot tell you how exciting it is!  Chris and I finish dewallpapering the dining room today.  That means that this week I will paint the dining room and the living room (the only room in the house without wallpaper or paneling).  I will post pictures next weekend of the transformation of the dining and living room!!

This means that we have dewallpapered 7 rooms in six months (kitchen, entrance/stairs/upstairs hall, master bedroom, master bathroom, office, half bathroom, dining room).

Our house is slowly becoming ours.  Our vision of what our house is going to be is coming true.  It looks so good.  Thank you all for supporting us through this home buying journey and reading our blog!

Master Bathroom

The trend of our house is wallpaper if you haven't been able to tell.  The wallpaper in this room was not that bad, but it still had to go.

The trim in the bathroom was the same trim that was in the master bedroom.

This was a difficult room to fix.  They had taken wallpaper down before. They patched the damaged walls but did not prime over it.  If you ever want to put up wallpaper (DON'T) prime the walls before you put up the paper.
We painted the bathroom a color called Aqua Glow first.  It was a beautiful color but it changed your skin color when you stood in there.

It was too bright so we decided to go with a light blue.  It matched one of the quilts on our bed.  I know it looks like white in the picture, but it is a light blue.

At some point we will update the mirror and the lighting, but it is fine for now.
