We cut down some trees!!

Have you ever seen terrorizing trees?  We have them in out backyard.  They look as if they popped out of Tim Burton's A Nightmare Before Christmas. I mean, look at the thorns on that tree.

According to the tree company, the trees were about 70 feet tall!

Yes you did see people climbing the trees...awesome!

No Trees!!!!  It literally took them all day (9:00- 5:30) to finish.

La Cocina

So one of the things that I wanted in a house was a great kitchen that I could entertain in.  Which is one of the reasons I love this house.  It has a large kitchen for an older home.  But like the rest of our house it had wallpaper.  AHHHHH!!!!

We bought the house.  That night we had pizza and champagne to celebrate and we decided to tackle the wallpaper in the kitchen.  Not literally (at times it might be easier than tearing down wallpaper).  So that night we finished.  It peeled off with no effort.

We couldn't get the wallpaper off the walls.  Because surprise surprise, they did not prime the walls. If we scrubbed the walls, the drywall came down.  So the man at Lowes told me to buy oil based primer.  It will stick everything to the walls.  It did, but.........oil based paint smells like oil.  And this said oil smell lingers in the air.  The worst part is when you turn on your stove, fridge, dryer, toaster, etc   the appliance take the aire and heats it up.  And burns the oil.  Your entire house smalls like a grill......  It lasted for about a week.  Horrible....

Then we decided to go drastic and pant the kitchen a bright blue.

But the kitchen looked a little dark.  Painting the cabinets had to happen.  I am not sure why people are scared to paint them.  It is easy and so much fun.  (I will have a separate post on how to paint them- I slightly want people to post things to Pinterest).
Here is the final result.  They look great.  A couple coats of paint and new hardware.  Soon we will paint the kitchen counters a gray color.

Start of something new...

So I decided that I wanted to start a blog.  I wanted to have a space to record what was going on in the Boyle household.  Updates on life, our house, and other fun things!  Enjoy!
