Study / Office

Here is what the house looked like before we moved in.  The wall paper was not bad.  It was really thick though.  We got smart while taking it off.  We peeled off the wallpaper and then took off the glue.  it sounds like more work, but in the end went much faster!

Here are the walls with some of the wallpaper down!

Here is the finished product.  It is a really nice rich brown called Moose Mousse!

Happy Birthday to Us!!!

So Chris and I share the same week of birthdays.  For our birthday this year we got a lot of fun stuff for our house from our parents.

We got some new lighting from Chris' parents. For the kitchen and hallways!

And a vanity for our half bathroom.

Our house is so cool!  I can't wait to see what it will look like when we have lived here for a year!!

Here is Chris on his birthday (August 7th)!!  We went to Uno's for dinner.

Here I am on my birthday (August 10th)!!  We went to The Cheesecake Factory for my Birthday!

Hallway

This is what our hallway started like.  You could have gotten a headache just looking at it.  This area included the entrance, stairs, and upstairs hallway.  This was a huge portion of the house.  Oh, and if you didn't know, the wallpaper matched the bed spreads in one of the upstairs rooms before we moved in. :)

This was the walls with a little bit of paper.....

Walls being primed!!

Here are the walls with no paper!  It is such a big difference!  We went with two tones of beige in the hallway.

How to Paint a Cabinet

So our kitchen was really dark.   It needed to be refreshed, so I painted the cabinets.  The hardest part is getting the doors on and off of the cabinets.

We went to Lowes to buy things to sand and degloss our cabinets.  Instead the guy at Lowes saud that this primer sticks to glossy surfaces.  Primer and no sanding.... done.

I used a semi gloss paint from Lowes.  Du Jour...not white. :)

Also, per all of my research, use foam rollers for the paint.  It will go on much smoother than a regular roller.

So we took the doors off the cabinets and put them on the floor.  And then primed and painted.

Instead of buying (and trying to find) hinges for the cabinet doors, I spray painted them.  It worked so well.  It is a little different than our handles. But unless you are being judgmental, you will never notice.

And here is the kitchen put back together with new door handles.

***You might also be able to see that I painted the bay window in the background.  It brings in so much more light!
